Every search has it’s own unique life-cycle. Executive and Talent search prices can vary wildly across our marketplace making it difficult for potential clients and candidates to work out exactly what a search will actually cost them. To further complicate matters, unlike us, most search firms do not list their pricing on their websites. In order to provide a transparent, up-front picture of our service costs we offer our clients two distinct search options depending on their needs; retained and contingency.
Our strongest relationships are with those who prefer to work on a retained basis for our searches. However, we also offer contingency searches which offer the client a high degree of flexibility, balanced with a higher fee.
What is the cost and time difference between a retained and contingency search?
For a retained search, you get the highest priority for your brief, our fee is fixed and unrelated to the size of the candidate's salary. Our engagement deposit is $5,000 USD. Engagement deposits are nonrefundable and due upon commencement of the search. The balance of the search fees are due upon acceptance of your offer by the candidate. At that point we will issue our invoice for $16,000 USD. Payment terms are available. Search time varies from two weeks to two months depending on the complexity and scope of the brief.
The benefits to you of a retained search are as follows:
Budgeting - low flat fee, advance knowledge of exactly what the search will cost you.
Confidence - we are negotiating on your behalf with zero vested interest in the compensation package.
Objectivity - high potential but less expensive candidates are not held back from presentation to you.
For a contingency search our exposure to risk is high, therefore our total fees due are correspondingly higher. Our engagement deposit is $3,000 USD. Engagement deposits are due upon commencement of the search. The balance of the fees are due upon acceptance of your offer by the candidate. At that point we will issue our invoice at 30% of first year base salary, minus the engagement deposit already paid ($3k). Payment terms are available. Search time varies from two weeks to two months depending on the complexity and scope of the brief.
The benefits to you of a contingency search are as follows:
Flexibility - you may have a number of firms working on the same search brief for you.
Obligation - low up front deposit and zero commitment.
Qualifications - when it is not critical that the hire is the most qualified person IN the market.
Performance Guarantee - If for any reason you are unsatisfied with our service, the engagement deposit is 100% fully refundable, No questions asked!
Unlike many search firms we never charge our clients for any internal or external fees associated with our search, sourcing, administration and recruiting activities. Such as Advertising and Marketing expenses, Out-of-house research, Background checks, Couriers, Third-party agency fees, Long distance calls, Travel, Pre-hire health screens, Consulting services, Dining and Hotel expenses, Drug-testing, etc, etc. We see these as being part of our ongoing costs of doing business.

What do we charge candidates?
For most positions that we search for we don’t charge the candidates that we work with, since we receive payment from our client companies when we make a placement.
In a fiercely competitive job market, however, where many qualified applicants are applying for the same position, a candidate can benefit from using our retained service. We can offer access to job openings that a candidate might not otherwise have, we can also help a candidate make substantial and practical improvements in the way they present themselves.
A candidate may spend a considerable amount of time posting their resume or CV online and applying for every job that seems like a good fit. With our retained service we can cast a wider net and help them to target and triangulate their search and use our contacts to find roles that better fit their unique experiences and qualifications, such positions often pay much higher salaries. Conversely, for many reasons, a candidate may not want to post their resume online, or respond to offers from recruiters via social media.
In cases such as this we provide a high level of confidentiality to their job search and use discretion when working with our current and potential clients. We charge between $1,000 and $4,000 USD per month for a retained candidate search, depending on the complexity and scope of the brief.
